Regular batons are often steel core and are somewhat heavy. When items drop from 2 meters height they accumulate a lot of stored energy. If these batons are not caught in time they will hit the floor with great force. Ultimately this may result in stress of pits in the flooring material and/or metal machine ring. Use foam batons instead if you expect batons to not be caught in mid-air.
